The Operation +1 Day

Icon Leave Comment
Well I first woke at about 4am Friday, but went back to sleep pretty much straight away. Next woke at about 10am and mum and dad were there. Was lovely to see them but felt (and was) very sick. I was still connected up to a lot of the machines and I was in a fair amount of pain, so it was not a happy time. Friday was spent just sleeping or being...

The Operation: D Day.

As I said in my previous entry, I have no memory from about 7:30am Thursday morning, to about 3-4am Friday, so here's a basic summary.
At 8:00 or so, I was taken along to the pre op room, where I was administered my main anaesthetic. I was prepared for surgery, and plumbed into lots of monitors. I had a line going into the back of each hand,...

Here is the 1st part of my 6 part blog on my Heart Operation. This is for my benefit as much as anyone else's, so I have a record of the experience.

Well my general attitude to this whole thing was pretty positive, however as the day got nearer i got more...

Mozart The full list of compositions

Following on from Paul's (Martin-1) topic on who I'd like to bring back and what would I ask them, I was having a look at Mozart's wikipaedia page.
I would certainly bring him back and ask him how he managed to write more music in his short life than anyone else in the history of mankind.
He lived for just 35 years, started composing...

More news... (received in an email this morning)

The car with my friend and her baby was waiting at a junction, and she was hit from behind by a lorry who was doing 50 in a 30 zone. He didn't judge his braking properly and hit her car, pushing it into the path of another lorry....

It's now a manslaughter investigation.

Should be done for murder.

Putting things into perspective

Some time towards the end of last week, I had a phonecall from a church friend to tell me that someone I know well had been involved in a road accident. She lives in Canada and had recently had a baby with her husband. Only she and the baby were in the car... Micah (the baby) suffered fractured legs, and mild concussion. Paula suffered far more...

Positivity is the key.

Well, I told my boss today, and tbh it couldn't have gone better. I mean obviously, she can't really say or do anything but go with it, but she didn't even ask about time off work etc, but I told her anyway. Got a sort of "yes of course" type reply. Everyone at work has been great actually. Kinda feel silly telling people...

Woah

I thought I would actually try and write something a little bit more often in here, in light of yesterday. After all, it's not every day I get told I have to have major open heart surgery.....

I must admit, when Dr Haw first told me the timescale of this, I nealy had a heart attack, which would have just been too ironic

National Festival of Music for Youth

As you probably know, I play the Violin in the Southampton Youth Orchestra.
Well yesterday we went up to Brimingham Symphony Hall, to take part in the Orchestral section of the big national festival. There are prizes at this thing, and if you win a prize, you get to play in the Schools Prom at the Royal Albert Hall in London.
Our piece was...

Situation still the same

I am into my second week of doing three people's jobs and I am begging to loose my grip on reality. I got a huge amount done today and yesterday, but I am so exhausted now, I think I'll sleep for a week. Still, not much I can do about it short of coming in on my day off tomorrow, whcih I asked about but apparently I'm not allowed to....
